The Elementary Education Office assists with the management of the twelve (12) elementary schools located in the communities of Pascagoula and Gautier, which comprise the Pascagoula-Gautier School District. The elementary schools serve diverse student populations with district curriculum and programs designed to meet the needs of all students. PGSD elementary schools follow a teacher-designed student-centered curriculum, reflecting state and national content standards to provide stimulating learning environments. Specialized programs offer students a balanced curriculum. School counselors and district health nurses provide student support and care. Teachers design lessons to meet the needs of all the students through a variety of programs and strategies.
The Pascagoula-Gautier School District elementary schools have multiple programs to assist students in meeting standards. STAR tests are our universal screener. Students take these assessments three times per year. I-Ready is another adaptive computer program used in all the elementary schools to assist students in meeting all grade level standards. The following programs are used in classrooms: Ready Reading, Ready Math, Ready Writing, Reading Street, Engage New York Math, Core Knowledge.
To explore a specific school near your home you may click on 'Schools' in the upper left of this browser window. Students are assigned to "neighborhood" schools for Kindergarten through 4th grade and these school zones do change based on changes in student population. Fifth and sixth graders are served at Trent Lott Academy in Pascagoula and Singing River Academy in Gautier. Pre-Kindergarten students are served at six schools; Arlington Heights, Central, College Park, Gautier Elementary, Jackson and Martin Bluff Elementary. We welcome you to our communities and hope you will contact the Elementary Education Department if you need assistance.
