Elementary Education
The Elementary Education Office assists with the management of the ten (10) elementary schools and two (2) academy schools located in the communities of Gautier and Pascagoula, which comprise the Pascagoula-Gautier School District. The Pre-K-6th schools serve diverse student populations with district curriculum and programs designed to meet the needs of all students. PGSD elementary and academy schools follow Pre-K-6th teacher-designed student-centered curriculum, reflecting state and national content standards to provide stimulating learning environments. Specialized programs in reading, special education, media centers, music and physical education, curriculum computer labs and classroom computers, and pre-school age programs at selected schools, offer students a balanced curriculum. School counselors and district health nurses provide students support and care. A wide variety of learning experiences and activities designed around students' ability and performance level taught by highly trained and motivated teaching staffs provide challenging learning opportunities.
