Workforce Development Partnership Makes Positive Changes for J.C.

The PGSD College and Career Technical Institute’s Adult Education/Workforce Development Initiative in partnership with Ingalls Shipbuilding and surrounding business and industry started Oct. 21, 2019. Personnel from Ingalls were on hand to present the students a contract on night one contingent on their completing the requirements of the program. The CCTI is offering Welding, Structural Fitting, and Sheetmetal/Joiner and in January adding Pipefitting to that list. The classes are full and there is a waiting list so they will be offered on a continuous basis with guaranteed employment. Other companies will be joining in this venture as well. This partnership between the PGSD, Ingalls Shipbuilding, WinJob Center, Adult Learning Center and Mississippi Department of Education’s Workforce Development is really going to change our community. Mississippi Department of Human Services and VT Halter Marine are expected to come on board at a later date. Exciting progress for workforce development in Jackson County! #bethelight See more pictures on Facebook
