Child Nutrition Free and Reduced Application

May 16, 2025 Dear PGSD families, We're writing to share important changes to our school meal program for the upcoming school year: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIES: All meals will remain FREE for all elementary and academy students. MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS: Lunch will cost $3 per meal for students who don't qualify for free or reduced-price meals. GOOD NEWS: Breakfast will remain FREE for ALL students at ALL schools. WHY THESE CHANGES ARE HAPPENING Our community is growing stronger! As our cities have prospered and household incomes have increased across Pascagoula and Gautier, we've reached a point that reflects our community's economic progress. This growth means we no longer can take part in the USDA’s free meal programs we've participated in for the past 9 years. After careful consideration, PGSD has decided to continue providing free meals at all elementary schools while returning to paid lunches at secondary schools for the upcoming school year. Breakfast will be free at all schools, as well. Be sure your household, regardless of what school your child(ren) attends, completes a free and reduced-price meal application for the 2025-2026 school year during registration by going to www.schoollunchapp.com. If you have any questions about eligibility, please contact the Child Nutrition Department. Sarah S. Busby Child Nutrition Director Pascagoula-Gautier School District

Each household MUST complete one free and reduced meal application at https://tinyurl.com/pgsd-lunch-app. After completion, please retain your meal application confirmation number page to show at each child's school registration. The household information you enter into your meal application is 100% confidential and only used to assist in feeding children free meals. Your meal application will be processed after July 1, 2025 using USDA's 2025-2026 eligibility guidelines.

Title I Parent Survey 2025

PGSD's elementary (with the exception of Beach Elementary), middle schools and Pascagoula High School are Title I schools, and as the parent/guardian of a child attending a Title I school you are an important part of the Title I team. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the parental involvement program and activities in our schools. The focus of all Title I programs is to help eligible students meet the same high academic achievement standards expected of all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and background. The following survey is confidential and will be used to assist us with future planning for parental involvement activities and events at these schools. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
